I've been seeing you update your work on 3bit explorer, and wanted to try your first game. This is fun!
The puzzles were surprisingly varied, and while by the end I was feeling a little exhausted by all the searching (a 21/25 necessary for the pebbles would have been appreciated...), it was a nice search to take part in.
I really enjoyed how further exploration of certain areas resulted in making base mechanics easier. I completed the thorn temple before getting the mega heart, and Oh Boy When I Realized I has ostensibly done the hardest temple first I was pleased with myself.
I was doing on of the block pushing puzzles, and left the screen without completing it. When I came back the blocks had disappeared. I think the script that checks whether the puzzle is "solved" only checks if I exited after moving a block, without checking which exit I left by.
Hello there! Thanks for the reply! I hope the bug didn't stop you from proceeding in the game. Could you tell which puzzle was it? Thank you very much!
Quite the opposite, but I don't want to cheese the puzzles, even by accident. I just got the shovel and dug up the dirt patch south of Henry's house. The puzzle in question is the one to the right, but I assume the other block puzzles have the same bug.
Hello there my friend! I found the bug on that puzzle, and it appears to be exclusive to it. When you open the chest and leave that screen, the game will check if it is opened and remove all blocks from that map. I will upload a fixed version as soon as I can! Thank you :)
Hello my friend! Due to some work stuff I was not able to fix this bug/exploit in the game yet. Reponding to your other comment, the bug is only present in the mentioned puzzle.
I would have recommended this game but... UPDATE: You know the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results? Well, that's the solution to get the Soul Crystal. I'm baffled how anyone was supposed to figure it out. It didn't even look like progression when attempting it. Urgh, this was a decent game until now.
The map is token at best and only covers about 10% of the actual map. Unless I'm missing map sections.
Same for Quests: the progress/status of each is vague at best and without a walkthrough, it's too easy to get stuck.
I was going to say it's a great little game but it's too flawed.
I love the game also, but I have no clue what else to do to finish! Is there a guide/walkthrough I can make use of? I have 5 pebbles left, and am missing two items.
I've completed all quests except coin collector because of the 1st ending.
The compass had me confused at first too. You're actually following it backwards. Either the dev was trying to leave a hint that ended up too obvious, or tried to stylize the compass and accidentally made it a bit misleading.
The indicators on the compass look like they're arrows pointing toward the center, and you're following the "arrows" I assume? That's certainly what I thought and did. You actually want to ignore that arrow shape, and follow the compass in the direction that would be obvious without the "arrows" pointing opposite.
What you've found is the "secondary" use of the compass that you'll need later.
Well, this game isn't what I expected it to be....
...that aside, it's really really good! Gives me early Pokémon games vibes. Equal times cute and creepy. Very enjoyable little game that has multiple endings and a few surprising plot twists. It's challenging enough to make your brains work but easy enough to find a satisfying solution.
...Although I have to admit I myself am stuck because I cannot find five more pebbles.
I wish it was square and had an option to have a greenish color palette to kick in my Gameboy nostalgia even more!

Some questions:
Which ending is canon?
There's a block puzzle on the big island where the little guy (Valacite?) appears as soon as you move a block. Is that meant to happen?
Why didn't the curse affect me when I had all three coins?
I ended up with 4900 G. Is that the maximum possible, or is there 100 I'm missing somewhere?
Also on the big island, there's a room that has a single tile of moving grass, that makes the buzzer sound when stepped on. Is that anything?
What are the Lords saying when they give you the tablet fragments?

I look forwards to trying your next games!
Hello there! Thank you so much for commenting. I am so glad you enjoyed the game and the world I created!
I hope my other entries are just as enjoyable :)
While you wait for 3-Bit Explorer, you can try out 2-Bit Explorer or 1-Bit Halloween! Hope you enjoy those too!

So are you going to fix it?

Other block puzzles with chests don't have the same bug?
Is it fixed yet? I can't tell if you've uploaded a new version.

I am sorry you had a bad experience my friend! Thanks for playing the game anyway! :)
Is there hint to the Soul Gem "puzzle" that I missed perhaps?

Hello there! I am glad you liked the game!
UPDATE: There is now a guide made by a very dedicated player/explorer. Check it out at: https://www.tumblr.com/1bitexplorerhelp
I love the game but I am so stuck getting through the desert
Hello there! Did you find the compass to help guide you over there? That item is vital so you don't get lost :
Yes, I do have the compass. When I follow it it leads me to the desert with those two big circles are. I don't know what to do next

My favorite kind of game so I'm waiting for the release
This looks really cool, I'll have to play it when it comes out :)
